About BBK Tuned Length Shorty Headers

With the arrival of Ford’s now legendary 5.0L Coyote V8, BBK set out to develop a direct bolt on header that could up the horsepower of the already potent 32 valve engine. During testing, BBK showed gains of around 14 horsepower over stock when utilizing a high-flow after-cat x-pipe. Ultimately, their headers outperform stock manifolds and other shorty headers offered by competitors thanks to the free flowing tuned-length design.

Design

BBK’s shorty headers feature 1-3/4″ CNC mandrel-bent tubing with 3/8″ laser cut exhaust flanges to ensure an unrestricted exhaust flow and an OEM quality construction. Having a tuned-length, sometimes called equal length, design enables these headers to have greater airflow and performance compared to other shorty headers.

In addition to increased performance and a great sound, BBK has created product that is 50 state smog legal, CARB certification #D-245-16. This makes them a great street legal choice for those in an emissions restrictive state such as California.

Important Considerations

Note: Early build 5.0L engines feature fine thread header bolts, while later builds (after August 2010) require coarse thread bolts. Be sure to check your build date before installation to avoid damage to your 5.0.
